Innovative and decorative crafts attract visitors at Gandhi Shilp Bazaar

Jute, leather, wooden, Jari, value added crafts, woolen, women’s party wear like tops, kurtis, skirts, purses in pearl and zardosi work of Agra and table lamps with leather cover from Aandhra Pradesh are some of the items that are attracting visitors at Gandhi Shilp Bazaar in Bhopal Haat.

The fair began from December 1 and will end on December 10. The cost of the party wear varies from Rs 300 to Rs 2500 while the cost of purse is from Rs 200 to Rs 600. The price of the table lamps ranges from Rs 300 to 2000.

The 10-day event is being sponsored by the Union Textile Ministry, Government of India. Craftsmen from the within and outside the state are participating in the exhibition. Exclusively designed hand woven ladies and kids wear, innovative and decorative crafts, imitation jewellery are on display.

A wide range of cotton and silk garments especially suits, saris, palazos, skirts, Anarkali suits, stoles in Bagh print of Dhar and Bandhej print of Jodhpur, salwar and kurti in Gujarati pattern are available in fair. Varied handmade unique products are the attraction at the fair.

Large numbers of citizens are visiting the exhibition because of exclusive handicraft products. Visitors can be seen strolling to check out different handmade items like bed covers, dress materials and saris with embroidery, carpet, leather products.

People buy decorative household articles, mats, bamboo crafts and wooden furniture directly from the producers at very reasonable rates.

There are also wide varieties in saris like Banarasi saris from Uttar Pradesh, Chanderi saris from Madhya Pradesh, Kantha saris from West Bengal, Bandhani saris from Gujarat and Rajasthan, Khadi silk saris from Jharkhand and Bihar.

For the dress lovers too, there are exclusive dress material collections like Batik, Mangalagiri, Crosse and Pochampalli silk all under one roof and at a very reasonable and affordable prices. There are also leather products from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra and wooden furniture from Sarangpur.

Wood carvings from Andhra Pradesh, Dhokra and rot iron craft from Chhattisgarh, palm leaves products from Arunachal Pradesh, handicraft products from Goa, Hyderabadi Pearls from Andhra and artificial jewelleries from Tamil Nadu.

Apart from handloom and handicraft articles, there is also an exclusive food court for the food lovers. There is a special display of food products of various states.
