Indian Army crosses LoC

Kill 3 Pakistan soldiers

Agencies, Jammu/ New Delhi

In retaliation of the killing of its four soldiers by the Pakistani Army in Rajouri on Saturday, the Indian Army personnel crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and killed three Pakistani soldiers on Monday night. The killed Pak soldiers are said to be from the 59 Baloch regiment under 2 PoK Brigade of the Pakistan Army.

According to sources, it was a cross LoC, localized and selective strike on the targets. “The raid was carried out at a short distance of 250-300 meters into the LoC,’’ the sources added. The operation was accomplished by the Ghatak Commandos of the Indian Army.

After the raid by the Indian Army commandos at Rakhchikri in Rawalkote sector, there was heavy firing on both sides and intermittent firing was going on. Pakistan Army released a media statement confirming three deaths and injury to one personnel at the LoC.

It came close on the heels of Indian Army gunning down of another Pakistan Army sniper on Sunday morning at the Jhangar area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri district. On Saturday, a Major and three soldiers were killed in Cross Firing Violation (CFV) by the Pakistan Army at Rajouri in the Pir Panjal Valley in Jammu and Kashmir.

The personnel killed were identified as Major Moharkar Prafulla Ambadas, Lance Naik Gurmail Singh, Sepoy Gurmeet Singh and Sepoy Pargat Singh, all from 2 Sikh Regiment who were posted in Chingus area of Rajouri. Lt General HS Panag, the former General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC in C) of Army’s Northern Command and Central Command, said the only option is to adopt covert warfare against Pakistan.

“This whole conflict has been reduced to a game of kabaddi on the LoC. They kill 3 of ours, we go kill 4 and vice versa…The point here is that we cannot have an all out war with Pakistan because it is a nuclear state and so are we. Only option is to adopt covert warfare in Pakistan and keep our house in order,” he said.

Figures presented in the Lok Sabha recently showed that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir 771 times till December 10 this year, and 110 times along the International Border till November-end.

Around 30 people including 14 army personnel, 12 civilians and four BSF personnel were killed in these ceasefire violations this year. Last year there were 449 incidents of ceasefire violations in which 13 civilians and 13 security personnel were killed and 83 civilians and 99 security personnel were injured.
