Collector to schools: Streamline bus services within fortnight

Chronicle Reporter, Ujjain A meeting of civil, transport, education and police officials along with bus owners and school directors was organised on Monday to streamline school bus services in the backdrop of Indore school bus tragedy. Addressing the meeting, collector Sanket Bhondve warned school directors that the administration would seize school buses with persons concerned failed to comply with rules and regulations within in a fortnight.SP Sachin Atulkar, RTO Santosh Malviya were among those present. The Collector said that the colour of school bus should be yellow and school bus imprinted in big font on front and rear portion of the bus. First-aid box and fire extinguishers too are mandatory. He further said that name of the school along with telephone number should be mentioned on bus. Besides, bus locks should be upgraded. He also asked schools to appoint trained and experienced driver and cleaner. Teachers, parents should inspect buses from time to time. Collector further said that sufficient space should be provided beneath seats so that students can put their school bags there. Fitness of school buses should be verified.
