- Dumper crushed a bike rider in Sehore’s Shahganj
- Villagers torched 10 dumpers
- The kidnapping of a young woman in Guna has raised question mark over law and order situation
Bhopal: The government has changed but the illegal sand mining continues as before. Recently a sand laden dumper crushed a bike rider near Shahganj in Sehore. Irate people torched ten dumpers.
After the Congress government came to power people thought the illegal sand mining business would end. But it didn’t happen so.
After coming to power the Congress had launched a campaign against sand mining in January. But the campaign could not end illegal mining. A fortnight-long campaign was conducted from January 2 to 17 in several districts of the state to stop illegal sand mining.
The state mineral department conducted the drive at Singrauli, Shahdol, Umaria, Anuppur and other districts bordering Uttar Pradesh. More than 50 vehicles engaged in sand mining were caught. Major actions were taken in Singrauli and Shahdol where over 50 dumpers were seized. Action against miners was also been taken in Anuppur and Umaria districts.
During the mining fortnight, action against sand mining was taken in Singrauli on the instructions of collector Anurag Chaudhury and under the guidance of superintendent of police Riaz Iqbal. Members of the district-level task force committee (comprising mining, revenue and police personnel) took action against those engaged in mining and transport of sand. The joint team conducted raids on a mine of DS & Company at Harrhawa village of Singrauli.
Eight poclain machines and 30 dumpers were caught engaged in mining outside the permitted area. Officials had issued strict instructions to the officials to conduct drive against illegal sand mining. The seized vehicles have been parked at the police outpost.
The district administration swung into action after the change of government in the state. The mining firms, considered close to the former BJP government, faced the brunt of action. But complaints were received that the firms were engaged in large-scale illegal sand mining outside the permitted area.
The collector took the complaints seriously and directed mining department to take action. Mining mafia is unnerved after series of raids were conducted against firms.
Guna’s shameful incident
In Guna some influential people kidnapped a 25-year-old woman in October last year. The woman’s parents have been making rounds of the police and also approached the DGP but to no avail. Even the abduction report has not been lodged. Even after lapse of almost five months there is no trace of the woman.
Weird statements of public representatives
Recently many public representatives have issued some weird statements which have not been liked by the people. People said these public representatives spend hours in temples praying for the success but after they win their attitude changes.
Recently a public representative in Sehore said it is prohibited for us to say ‘Vande Matram’. Later he said we would sacrifice our life for the nation. His statements are being much talked about. People don’t know what he wants to convey.
Significantly the programme was attended by many top leaders including former CM Digvijaya Singh, former MP Surendra Singh Thakur, ex-MLAs Ramesh Saxena and Shailendra Patel.
Young face from Hoshangabad!
The Congress party wants to field a young person from Hoshangabad Lok Sabha seat this time. The BJP is in power at all the four Lok Sabha seats here. Sartaj Singh left BJP and joined Congress at the time of assembly polls but his magic was ineffective. He lost to his disciple. Recently Congress leader Manak Agrawal attended Bhagwat Katha programme in Itarsi. But he convened a press conference and indicated that the party could field a young face from Hoshangabad this time.
Minister Jaivardhan doesn’t know the reality
Young minister Jaivardhan Singh should walk on foot on Bhopal to learn the reality. To know the ground reality he must walk on foot on the streets in areas like Idgah Hills, Sindhi Colony, Bhopal Talkies, Chhola Road, Kazi Camp, DIG Bungalow, Karond, Peer Gate, Jumerati, Jehangirabad, Itwara, Budhwara etc. The encroachment situation is so critical in these areas that it is not possible to even walk on foot.
