For the first time ever, with her beautiful voice and perfect pronunciation in sanskrit, the yestersday actor chanted the complete ‘Soundaryalahri’ along with renowned singers Suresh Wadkar, Shankar Mahadevan and Ashit Desai. The introduction of Soundaryalahri is narrated by Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, explaining the relevance and importance of this rich text on Tripurasundari.
Soundaryalahari is a mystical poem of Adi Shankaracharya which describes the beauty and effluence of the Divine Mother. Pandit Jasraj and Swami Avdheshanand Giri were the chief guests at the event, whereas Hema Wadkar and Surdasji from Iscon were hosts.
Surdasji while addressing audience, appreciated Times music for their contribution and support for considering Hema’s idea of making
Soundaryalahari and criticised Bollywood item numbers like Jalebi bai. Swami Avdheshanand Giri while addressing Hema said, ‘It is very difficult to chant entire Soundaryalahari even for very knowledgable Pandits and you did it very effortlessly’.
‘Soundaryalahri was not meant for the less evolved individuals and it is one of the the most powerful creations of Adi Shankaracharya which can lead to salvation’, he added.
