Guru Nanak Jayanti today

The nagar kirtan taken out on the penultimate day of Gurpurab to celebrate the birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev, saw massive participation by devotees. ‘Satgur Nanak pargatya, miti dhundh jag chanan hoya’ and other verses of Gurbani were sung by kirtani jathas and devotees at the procession.

En route the nagar kirtan, shopkeepers of all religions had cleaned the roads in front of their outlets, beautified them and organised stalls of langar and welcomed the procession in their areas.

Among others, school bands, Singh Sabhas, students, Nihang Singh organisations and gatka parties, participated in the nagar kirtan. Panj Payaras (Beloved Five) led the procession which had the holy book in the flower-decked palanquin (Palki Sahib). The people beelined on both sides of the road to pay respect to Guru Granth Sahib.

Governor, CM greet people Bhopal:

Governor Shri Om Prakash Kohli has extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. The Governor in his message said that Guru Nanak has given a message of communal harmony, peace and unity to the society.

The teachings and ideals of Guru Nanak are still relevant and will be in future too. The Governor has prayed for the development of the state beside happiness and prosperity of the people of the state on Guru Nanak Jayanti.
