The Yash Raj film ‘Gunday’ is slated to release on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2014. The residents of West Bengal’s Durgapur, turned out in force last week to have a glimpse of actors Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor shoot for their upcoming film Gunday . It was a sight to behold as scores of locals lined up across the coal mine where a few crucial scenes were to be shot, and their enthusiasm left the cast and crew, especially Priyanka, pretty overwhelmed, said sourses.
‘’Looks like all of Durgapur came out to welcome us. Thank you for all your love,’’ Priyanka wrote and attached to her post the link to a photo showing the hordes of cinema fans. The turnout cheered up director Ali Abbas Zafar too.
Reportedly, the team of Gunday was shooting for the climax scene at Khottadih Colliery area of Eastern Coalfields Limited of West Bengal. Priyanka Chopra and other cast members of Gunday were spotted shooting an action scene at a colliery.
Dressed in smart casuals, the actress looked a rough-tough girl and even wielded a pistol. Her co-stars Arjun Kapoor and Irrfan Khan also shot for the sequence.
The film is set in the eighties. The schedule was for 6-7 days, and with that director Ali Abbas Zafar wrapped up Gunday.
In the movie, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor play thieves who get involved with coal mafia. The movie is set in Kolkata and a major part of the film has been shot in the city and nearby areas.
Besides Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, the movie also stars Irrfan Khan, who plays an Intelligence Agent.
This is Priyanka’s second film and both Ranveer and Arjun’s third film with the Yash Raj banner. It is the first time that these three actors have come together in a cinematic venture. Amid the most turbulent times in the history of Kolkata, then Calcutta, from 1971 to 1988, Bikram and Bala rose from being small time wagon breakers and coal thieves to becoming the biggest and most powerful black marketing mafia-men.
A rare combination of vigour and wit, the two were inseparable and the city of Calcutta swore by their friendship. As their notoriety became the stuff of legends the People of this sprawling city started calling these two carefree rebels ‘Gunday’. This is Ali’s second directorial venture after the successful ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’, featuring actor-singer Ali Zafar, Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif.
