Rejecting the probe instituted by the Gujarat Government into the snooping on a Gujarat based woman, AICC General secretary Digvijay Singh today said the state Government’s probe is like the accused deciding to investigate
‘’The Gujarat government ordering a probe (in the snoopgate) is something like accused deciding, who will investigate and who will sit in judgement,’’ Mr Singh said.
The Congress leader said it showed the dictatorial character of Modi and sought to draw comparisons between him and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal.
‘’I have observed that there is a similarity between Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi. If there is a complaint against Kejriwal or AAP, he decides who will investigate and who will be the judge.
Similarly in this case it was Modi, who as Chief Minister, has the Home portfolio and it is at his behest the phones of the lady were tapped. Now he, as a cover up, has decided who will investigate and who will sit in judgement in this case. It indicates the most dictatorial sort of character of both the persons,’’ Mr Singh said.
He called for the investigation of the incident by the appropriate authorities under the Indian Telegraph Act and the Information Technology Act.
‘’I am of the view that appropriate authorities must investigate the case under Indian Telegraph Act and Information Technology Act and take proper action against anyone, who is accused,’’ he said.
Ever since it broke out, the Congress has been attacking Mr Modi over the incident of snooping on the woman.
