Gujarat CM asks Centre to provide relief to farmers in MP

Gujarat CMNarendra Modi today asked the Centre to provide relief to farmers in Madhya Pradesh who suffered losses due to untimely rain and hail storms.

‘I hope Centre provides the assistance that the farmers of MP require and supports the MP Government in providing timely relief,’Mr Modi tweeted.

The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate also appreciated Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s efforts to provide assistance to the farmers.

‘I appreciate proactive efforts of Mr Chauhan & his team in assisting farmers who suffered losses due to untimely rain & hail storms,’ Mr Modi added.

The Madhya Pradesh CM has announced that a statewide bandh would be observed by the BJP on Thursday if the demand for a relief package of at least Rs 5,000 crore for farmers whose crops were damaged by recent hail storm and excessive rains was not met.

Mr Singh said besides him, his Cabinet Ministers would also stage a sit-in in Bhopal to press for the demands.
