New Delhi, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday that Government will launch a massive campaign “Demand bill for every purchase” to educate people about the GST and its benefits.
On the eve of completion of one year of GST roll out, Mr Goyal said that once everyone starts demanding bills for every purchase, the GST revenue collection will go up and will allow slashing the rates further which will result in falling prices of items. The rates may go down eventually by 4-5 per cent, he said.
Talking to reporters, Finance Minister said that Government will rope in celebrities for this campaign on the lines of the “Swachchhata Mission” which has evoked good response.
Mr Goyal said that Finance Ministry is working to have a nationwide three digit number for citizens to register complaints in case any establishment refuses to give bill to the customer.
The complaint would be monitored by a 24 hour call center and tough action will be taken against defaulters. He added that apart from this, his ministry will issue whatsapp number too for the same purpose. More help from other social media platforms will also be taken, he said.
