Agencies, New Delhi Noting that there has been a sharp fall in the terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir since 2005, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today assured that the Government is making efforts to bring peace in the Valley by working out a package for the people in the state.
Replying to clarifications on his statement in the Rajya Sabha on the yesterday’s attack on the CRPF personnel in Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Shinde said, “From 1,990 incidents in 2005, the number of incidents of terrorism in the Valley have witnessed a sharp fall to 50 in 2012. “We are also making efforts to curb incidents of infiltration from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Mr Shinde said the Government wanted to work to forge an emotional bond with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Recently, I went to Lal Chowk without security to build a bond with the people of the state. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi recently took industrialists to Jammu and Kashmir to devise schemes so that the local youth can get employment. “I assure that we want to bring peace to the Valley through a package for the people,” he said.
