New Delhi, The Government on Monday convened an all-party meeting here ahead of the Winter session of Parliament beginning on Tuesday.
Leaders of the Congress , the Samajwadi party, the Rashtriya janata Dal, the CPI, national Conference and the Aam Aadmi party attended the meeting, chaored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting , convened by Parliamentary affairs Ministr Narendra Singh Tomar, was attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun jaitley, Minister of state for parliamentary affairs Vijay Goel.
Among the opposition leaders who attendd the meeting were Leader of the OPpposition in th rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabbi Azad, Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha mallikarjun Kharge, Deputy Leader of the Congress in the rajya Sabha Anand Sharma, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, , D Raja of the CPI, Mr Ram Gopal yadav of the samajwadi party, Jai Prakash narayn Yadav of the RJD, Mr Bhagwant mann of the Aam Aadmi party and Prem Singh Chandum,ajra of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
During the meeting, the government sough co-operation from political parties for smooth functioning of both the Houses during the session.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has also called an all-party meet on Monday to build consensus for smooth functioning of the Upper House. Opposition parties will also hold a meeting to discuss their strategy to counter the government.
