Governors for UP, WB, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh & Nagaland appointed

President Pranab Mukherjee today  appointed new Governors for Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West  Bengal, Gujarat and Nagaland to fill vacancies caused due to exit of the incumbents in the wake of varied sorts of  controversies after change of regime at the Centre in May this  year.
Former Union Minister Ram Naik was appointed Governor of Uttar Pradesh to succeed  Mr BL Joshi—a former IPS and Delhi Lt Governor-who quit the Lucknow Raj Bhawan a couple of months ahead of the expiry of his term in office reportedly in the wake of pressure from the BJP-led Centre. Likewise, the ruling BJP veterans Balramji Dass Tandon from Punjab and former Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Keshari Nath Tripathi were given gubernatorial posts in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal respectively.
