Gorkha leaders called on Rajnath Singh seeking immediate tripartite talk on statehood issue on Darjeeling

Eight Gorkha leaders today called on UnionHome Minister Rajnath Singh seeking for holding immediate tripartitedialogue on statehood issue and requested him to talk to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee so that she restrain the state police forces from crackingdown on “peaceful and democratic rallies for constitutional demand for Gorkhaland,”The leaders- MLAs Rohit Sharma, and Sarita Rai, Swaraj Thapa, RoshanGiri, Asoke Lama, all GJM, Arun Ghatani (CPRM), Biplav Rai (ABGL), andDawa Pakhrin of Gorkhalknd Rajya Nirman Morcha- called on the Union minister andbriefed about latest position facing by them in the face of “ Police brutality.

The also impressed upon how the state government on August 29 meeting at Nabanna chief minister clearly said she would not talk about the statehood since it was not on the purview of the state. They said the meeting the GJM and others attended since Mr Singh had said they should talk to the state government.
