Women & Child Development Minister Smt. Ranjana Baghel has described decline in gender ratio as a cause of concern for society and future. Smt. Baghel was addressing a workshop and function under Beti Bachao Abhiyan at Ravindra Bhavan here today. Mayor Smt. Krishna Gaur and Collector Shri Nikunj Shrivastava were also present on the occasion.
Smt. Ranjan Baghel said that society should accord equal status to sons and daughters. Balance between both is necessary for the country and society. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has launched Beti Bachao Abhiyan to improve declining gender ratio. The campaign has been lauded throughout the country and other states have also replicated it. She informed that the Chief Minister has chalked out a number of schemes for improving lot of girls right since their birth. Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country where birth of a girl child is celebrated and elderly women are being sent to pilgrimage on government expenses. Concerned about girls’ future, the State Government is leaving no stone unturned to make them self-reliant. Time has come now that society should change its mindset towards girls. She exhorted people to play important role in helping girls avail benefits of government schemes.
Smt. Baghel also administered a pledge to people not to discriminate between sons and daughters.
Smt. Ranjana Baghel felicitated girls of Bhopal districts including Ku. Madhu Sondhia, Ku. Tanvi Sharma, Ku. Ayushi Dixit, Ku. Meena Nagar, Ku. Swati Naroliya, Ku. Madhu Das, Ku. Namrata Pandey, Ku. Ritika and Ku. Shweta Gupta for excelling in sports, education, painting, gallantry etc. She also felicitated women people’s representatives, parents having undergone family planning operation after one daughter, institutions working towards girls’ welfare including Sangini, New Sameera Samvedna, Sarokar, Tal, Bitiya Club, Aadhar, Bharat Gyan-Vigyan, Parwarish, Action-Aid, painter Shri Anil Goel, Private Medical Practitioners’ Association, Madhya Pradesh Voluntary Health Association, donors of Atal Chief Health Mission with mementoes and certificates. Smt. Baghel also worshipped about one dozen girls by applying Tilak to their foreheads.
At the outset, several people’s representatives, office-bearers of voluntary organisations and schoolgirls expressed their views on protection of girls. Several people’s representatives, and large number of girls and women were present on the occasion.
When minister removed veil of woman sarpanch
Women & Child Development Minister Smt. Ranjana Baghel made the audience have a feel of women’s empowerment in the state by removing the Ghoonghat (veil) of a woman sarpanch Smt. Sushila Bai Gaur who was felicitated at the function. Smt. Baghel was felicitating women and girls at a Beti Bachao Abhiyan function at Ravindra Bhavan today. When woman sarpanch of Tara Sewania Gram Panchayat Smt. Sushila Bai Gaur was called for felicitation, she reached the dais in Ghoonghat as per old tradition. Smt. Ranjana Baghel first got her Ghoonghat removed and then felicitated her. This move of Smt. Baghel was profusely applauded by the audience. Smt. Sushila Bai Gaur, who is class VIII pass, has ensured a number of outstanding works in the Gram Panchayat in her capacity as the sarpanch. Her husband Shri Ramswaroop Gaur has also been sarpanch of the same Gram Panchayat.
