Staff Reporter, Bhopal A protest was marked at the state office of BJP by the ‘Gas Peedit Nirashrit Pension Bhogi Sangharsh Morcha Bhopal’ in demand to increase the pension of the women, old people and the handicapped. They have also put forward the demand of including all the pension occupants under the poverty list. They protested in the BJP office with empty utensils in their hands.
“In this period of inflation it is very difficult to manage in the pension of Rs. 275 per month. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had promised to increase our pension before the elections but no serious steps have been taken regarding this matter” said a 80 year old woman Rampyaari Bai.
As told by other women, they don’t have the ration cards of the poverty line which proves very problematic for them. They don’t get the pension every month and even when they get it; it is less than the decided amount. “We are demanding the increase in the pension since last 17 years from the state govt.” said the Morcha President Balkrishna Namdev. The last increment in the pension was marked under the govt. of Digvijay Singh in April, 1996.
