Srinagar, Security forces gunned down fifth militant on Thursday morning in the woods of Rafiabad in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, where a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) operation was launched early Wednesday morning.Four militants were killed yesterday in the encounter.
Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid said that the fifth militant was killed this morning by the security forces. He said operation was still going on when the reports last came in.
Troops of Army, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation in the forest at Rafiabad in Baramulla on early Wednesday morning.
During the day-long operation four unidentified militants were killed. Later the operation was suspended due to darkness to avoid any casualty.However, the operation was resumed on Thursday morning and one militant was killed. An Army jawan was also injured in the encounter who has been admitted to Base hospital, Srinagar,
There were five militants hiding in the woods, the DGP said.
