Exhibition highlights sacrifice and courage of women freedom fighters

An exhibition remembering the courage and resolve of the women who fought for the country’s independence was organized by the Bhopal unit of the All India Democratic Women’s Association of India (AIDWAI) at Neelam Park on Tuesday. Former minister and social activist Savita Bajpai opened the exhibition.

The exhibition, organised to mark birth anniversary of Captain Laxmi Sehgal of Azad Hind Fauj, provided information about the women freedom fighters. A public meeting was organized at the venue where the lives and works of the women freedom fighters were recalled.

Anganwadi Karyakarta evam Sahayika Ekta Union state treasurer Hajra Kazmi chaired the meeting, which was conducted by AIDWAI state president Neena Sharma. State functionaries Sandhya Shaili, Leela Shrivastava, district president and secretary Rama Pal and Nisha Mishra addressed the meeting.

The speakers said the women freedom fighters’ contribution in freedom struggle was very significant and we should be proud of them. They said it is necessary to carry forward the legacy. Representatives of various civil society organizations visited the exhibition.
