Bhopal : Following recent amendments made in the voters’ lists for year 2012, now the exercise has begun to add maximum number of rest of the voters. For this purpose, a special action plan has been chalked out for year 2013. Under it, the existing voter-population ratio of 55 percent in the state will be increased to 61 percent.
Special emphasis on tribal districts
According to Chief Election Officer Jaideep Govind, more emphasis will be laid on tribal-predominant districts of the state in the action plan. Various measures will be undertaken for getting tribals’ names registered in the voters’ lists in view of lack of education among them.
Those districts of Chambal and Gwalior districts will be covered under this special effort where less number of women voters has been registered during the recent revision of electoral rolls. For them, a special campaign will be conducted with the assistance of Anganwadi workers with a view to making addition of names of maximum number of women in the electoral rolls.
In the same context, suitable efforts will also be made for addition of names of non-resident Indian and service-electorates.
Process on for covering 40 lakh voters
Chief Election Officer Jaideep Govind informed that the process of adding the names of 40 lakh voters who could not be covered in the voters’ lists will continue for addition of their names in the voters’ lists of year 2013. Out of these, 23 lakh voters are in 18-19 age group. In view of this massive number, participation of schools and colleges will be ensured and NCC and NSS cadets’ cooperation will be sought in this task.
On the instructions of Election Commission of India, names of voters’ lists of all the 50 districts of the state are being added online. Its software has been linked to the server of Chief Election Officer’s office. Thanks to it, analysis has become easy and reports can be filed without delay.
