Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Yellow strip has been drawn outside of the shops to restrain encroachment in the Newmarket, so that the shopkeepers do not keep their goods out of the line. But even after six months, New Market is not been able to free from encroachment.
Due to encroachment 20 feet road only remains to four to five feet and at some places, unauthorized hawkers are roosting too, due to this people did not even have enough room to walk. The anti-encroachment authority of the Municipal Corporation also took action three to four times in the last six months while warning them. But no action was taken since last October.
Exercise was started in June
To make New Market Hawker’s free zone, the process is being going on since June. Collector Sudama Khade took the meeting of the Merchant Federation in the presence of then Municipal Commissioner Avinash Lavaniya.
In order to solve the problem of encroachment, it was agreed in the meeting to draw a yellow strip outside the shops, on Consensus the federation had drawn yellow strip in October also. But merchants are encroaching themselves. Lavaniya gave instructions to mark the place for the arrangement of hawkers, but the officers neither marked the place nor prepared any strategy for their shifting.
