On Monday, the city police arrested principal of DPS in the tragic school bus accident. Four innocent children and the bus driver lost his life on January 5 last.
Cops from Vijay Nagar police station swooped down on the accused DPS principal Sudarshan Sonar and arrested him from near the school gate. Sonar was later presented before the court from where he was sent to jail. According to additional superintendent of police Manoj Rai, “Sonar was arrested under the charges of 188 CrPC and was presented before the court which sent him to jail.”
According to Advocate Vaibhav Bansal, “Police have made him a co-accused in the case registered under the section of IPC 304, 420, 59 and 68, but he was arrested and presented before the court under the charges of section 188 of CrPC by the police.”
Bail plea was also submitted by Sonar to the court but due to serious objection by parents it was rejected and he was sent to jail till February 22. Notably, Sonar was the fourth one to be arrested in the case as police had earliest arrested the transport manager of the school and two more persons employed with the company that had provided speed governors to the school for its buses.
School administration and officials of road transport department were also found responsible for negligence in the case during the magisterial probe. Students of the school— Harmeet Kaur, Kriti Agrawal, Shruti Ludhiyani and Swastik Pahdya— and the driver of the ill-fated bus, Rahul Sisodiya died while nine other students were severely injured in the tragic accident.
