New Delhi, Delhi Government on Friday demanded a CBI probe into impending liability of Rs 5,000 crore faced by the DMRC due to termination of the concession agreement of Delhi Airport Express Metro Line (DAEML) with Reliance Infrastructure Ltd.
Addressing a press conference here, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said Chief Minister has written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Urban Development Minister Hardeep S Puri recommending a CBI probe into this matter.
He said this is likely to add burden to commuters in the form of fare hike. ‘ We suspect that DMRC may, with the approval of Central Government, try to raise its fares again in order to pay Rs 5,000 crore to the concessionaire, M/s Reliance Infrastructure Ltd,’ he said.
Mr Sisodia said because of the defects discovered in the design the speed of the metro train on this line was reduced from 120 km/hour to 50 km/hour. ‘Although the Delhi Government holds 50 per cent equity in the Delhi Metro still the Centre has its upper hand controlling the metro,’ he said.
