Death for rape-murder of 8-yr-old

Rapist_Bhopal CaseStaff Reporter, Bhopal The District and Sessions Court today sentenced a man to death for the rape-murder of an eight-year-old in the local New Market area. Judge Sushma Khosla awarded the punishment to Nandkishore Tamoli (50).

The girl’s body was found on February 3 in an isolated area near the official residence of Madhya Pradesh Home Affairs Minister Umashankar Gupta. She was a resident of a nearby slum and went missing on the previous night from the Bhopal fair area. Tamoli, who lived in a hut in the vicinity of the scene of crime, sexually assaulted the girl in bushes. After killing her, he dumped the corpse in a nullah.

The victim’s head was crushed and separated from the body. Tamoli was charged with kidnapping, murder, destruction of evidence and under other sections. The chargesheet was submitted on February 28. While issuing the verdict, the Judge said, “If there was a punishment more severe than the death penalty, it would have proved inadequate for this inhuman act.” Tamoli, who was arrested three days after the crime, showed no sign of remorse in the courtroom.
