Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) today said it would approach Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in connection with Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti not appearing before it despite being summoned twice for Ugandan women issue.
DWC chairperson Barkha Singh told UNI that the commission will meet the Lieutenant Governor soon and request him to get an FIR filed against him and will ask for his resignation also.
‘’We will meet the Lieutenant Governor by Monday and will request him to get an FIR registered against the Law Minister and will ask for resignation also,’’ she said.
Mr Bharti, who allegedly was involved in a midnight raid in Khirki extension area of south Delhi, was summoned by the DCW to explain his position on the issue. The Minister instead sent two of his lawyers without any authorisation, who then had heated debate with the DCW members including Ms Singh, another official of the commission said adding that Mr Bharti should have sent some letter or fax but not lawyers.
