The Congress during the election campaign have issued a “Vachan Patra” (Promises) giving undertaking that on coming to power it would make the contract employees as regular staff and take back who have been paid off and removed.
There are about 72,000 such employees who are working on contract and they are pressing the Kamal Nath Government to fulfil its “Vachan Patra” (promise). Presently the Government is stock-taking its financial position and have clearly stated that if at present only non-financial promises are fulfilled and rest will be considered after some time.
A committee has been constituted to deal with issue in phases. The committee will submit the report within three months. The Government must be given sufficient time to fulfil its promises. Practical views must be taken in such matter.
