Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today assured that his party will bring Tribal Bill to prevent illegal acquisition of tribal land when it comes to power after the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh.
Mr Gandhi was addressing ‘Adivasi Adhikar Maha Sammelan’ at the Lalbaug ground in Jagdalpur district headquarters in Naxal-affected Bastar region. ‘’No one can snatch tribal’s land after the implementation of this bill in the state,’’ Mr Gandhi stressed.
Stating that Congress party always thinks about the rights of the common man (Aam Aadmi) and the middle class, Mr Gandhi said more power should be given to them.
Speaking on education in the Bastar region, Mr Gandhi said a few years ago when he visited Bastar region, he found that there was only one person among 2000 people who had passed 12th class.
On health department in Bastar region, he asked the tribals whether they find doctors in the state government hospital. He said people in this region were dying due to gastro-enteritis.
‘’For the rights of the common man in the country, the Congress-led UPA government brought the Food Security Bill, Rozgar Yojana, RTI, Land Acquisition Bill and Right to Education,’’ Mr Gandhi said.
Mr Gandhi expressed confidence that after the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the Congress government will come to power.
‘’Congress government means adivasi government,’’ he said, adding that the development of the adivasis was possible, if youth adivasi joined politics. Senior Congress leaders Motilal Vora, Mohsina Kidwai and Ajit Jogi were also present on the occasion.

Yatra in Bastar district on May 25, decided to launch its campaign from the district with the hope of returning to power riding on the sympathy wave.
