New Delhi, Alleging the Congress party of refusing its seat sharing proposal specially in neighbouring state of Haryana and Punjab for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, the AAP on Saturday expressed its disappointment over the same and stated that Congress will be responsible if BJP comes to power again.
Senior AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia along with its Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh addressed a joint press conference here.
Mr Sisodia stated AAP has made every possible efforts for ‘gatbandhan’ (alliance) with Congress in Punjab, Haryana and Goa for the LS polls despite the party which was born fighting against the Congress irregularities because it wanted to stop Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and BJP from coming back to power but it was rejected by the Congress.
‘At a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah duo is a danger to the country, this is necessary that country should be free from the communal forces . If country gets divided, what will remain. Looking at all this AAP thought of ‘gathbandan’ politics so that Mr Modi and Mr Shah can be stopped from coming to power. But Congress rejected our seat sharing formula,’ he said.
Talking about alliance with Congress in Delhi, Mr Sisodia said, ‘In Delhi, Congress has not even a single MLA , MP. In last elections Congress got 10 per cent votes and despite of that they want 4-3 seat formula. The problem in Delhi is that AAP is fully ready and we can win all the seven seats. If we share seats with Congress, in those seats there is possibility Congress might loose.’
Annoyed over Congress rejection, Mr Singh said, ‘If BJP comes to power which calls martyr Hemant Karkare as anti-national then Congress will be responsible.’
‘If in 18 seats there was ‘gathbandhan’, the first message that would have gone to the entire country, Modi, Shah, BJP will not come to power,’ he claimed. Delhi will go to polls for seven parliamentary seats on May 12, and the filling of the nomination papers have started on April 18.
