Congress Agony Campaign

The Congress has launched “Agony (Vedna) campaign against the agonizing aspects of the demonetization. The party Vice President Mr.Rahul Gandhi took the command of the agitation. Inaugurating it at the Tal Catora Stadium he declared that the party would carry the campaign in each state, districts upto block level.

With the declaration of demonetization Mr.Gandhi was first to put up a question when 1000 rupee notes were demonetized why the 2000 rupees note was launched. This question is still unanswered. He took potshots at the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi for creating fear psychosis among the masses. He urged the people to shed off fear psyche and stand against the atrocities. In the banks there were two door. The first door for common people with frequent messages that there were no cash.

People virtually suffered for the whole day in the queue while at the back there was enough currency in the 2000 notes and black money was changed and exchanged with heavy cut and commission by the bank staff. There were no shortages of Rs.2000 rupees as it were printed in large numbers. In the five states Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Manipur Vidhan Sabha election Congress will raise the issue of suffering of people due to demonetization. The Uttar Pradesh will be real testing ground. Here the ruling Samajwadi is a divided family and party.

The Bahujan Samaj Party is cornered by the revelation of black money with the brother of Mayawati. The Congress likely to come forward in alliance with Samajwadi Party. The Bhartiya Janata Party will have to face the tough postures of electorates on demonetization agony.

Mr.Rahul Gandhi expressed the confidence that in 2019 Lok Sabha election the Congress would return to power and then only good days (Acchhe Din) of the people of India would come. The former UPA Union Finance Minister Mr.P.Chidambaram said the demonetization move has caused the country a colossal loss of 1.5 lakh crore. The Prime Minister Mr.Manmohan Singh said it would take many more year to come out of ill effects of demonetization.
