Congress workers led by Vivek Yadav operated ‘Shikshit Yuva Berojgaar Pakoda Centre at Gopal Mandir on Tuesday to protest Modi government’s failure to provide jobs to unemployed youths. Yadav later told Free Press, “We sold pakodas worth Rs 925.
The raw material cost Rs 700, while Rs 100 was taken away by Ujjain Municipal Corporation. In the end we were left with a profit of Rs 125. It was a paltry sum so we decided to send it to the prime minister through a demand draft.”
Stating that Modi came to power in 2014 on the promise of providing jobs to two crore youths every year. However, it has failed to fulfill its promise. Terming Modi’s assertion of selling pakodas by educated youths as self-employment as ‘shameful’, he said that PM’s comment was a cruel joke on all those who have acquired education to get their dream job.
Stating that providing jobs to MBA, engineering or MBBS degree holders was essential to secure future of both the youths and the country, he accused the PM of stalling nation’s development by talking of tea and pakodas.
Stating that Vyapam scam has already spoiled future of many talented youths of Madhya Pradesh, he said that Centre’s pakoda scheme is for all those who were deprived of jobs due to Vyapam scam.
Congress spokeman Rajesh Tiwari said that Ajeet Singh Thakur, Moti Bhati, Darshan Thakur, Bablu Khichi, Sanchit Sharma, Shakti Verma, Pritesh Sharma, Rajesh Bathli, Mujeeb Supariwale, Anil Marmat and Prateek Jain attended the protest.
