Cong fields Amarinder against Jaitley

Congress today fielded former Punjab chief  minister Captain Amarinder Singh against leader of opposition in  the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley fron the Amritsar LS seat , setting  up an interesting contest from the constituency. The COngress today released its fifth list of candidates for
Lok Sabha elections which also included AICC general secretary Ambika Soni from Anandpur Sahib in Punjab and former JD(U) leader Purnmasi Ram from Valmiki Nagar in Bihar.

The list, which was cleared by the Central election committee of the congress and released by AICC General secretary Madhusudan Mistry,  also includes names of Shivajirao Moghe from Yavatmal Washim in Maharashtra, Prof Om Prakash Misra from Balurghat in West Bengal , Ms Ila Mandal from Bangaon SC in West Bengal , Dhananjay Moitra from Dum Dum in West Bengal, Manoranjan Haldar from Mathurapur-SC in West Bengal, Mala Roy from Kolkata Dakshin in West Bengal, Anwar Ali from Tamluk in West Bengal, Manas Bhunia from  Ghatal in West Bengal, Ms Indrani Misra from Asansol in West Bengal and Tapan kumar Saha from Bolpur-SC.

The fielding of Capt Amarinder Singh from Amritsar against Leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun jaitley , has set up an interesting contest from the seat. Congress leaders feel that Capt Amarinder Singh has an excellent chance of defeating Mr Jaitley from Amritsar.
