Compost outlets to be opened in krishi upaj mandis

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is setting up compost plants at various institutions, marriage gardens, restaurants, colleges and residential colonies under sanitation survey-2018. Compost is being produced every month from the large compost plant of BMC.

Outlets of compost would be opened in Bhopal’s krishi upaj mandis to ensure the availability of compost for the farmers of villages situated close to Bhopal city. A workshop was organized at BMC auditorium at ISBT in the presence of BMC Commissioner Priyanka Das in this regard.

About 15 farmer organizations and 50 farmer representatives watched a presentation on benefits of use of compost and technique of establishing compost plant and expressed their willingness to use compost.

BMC Commissioner Priyanka Das informed that the BMC has established 90 compost plants in association with voluntary organization Sarthak at different places in the city under sanitation survey-2018 and a target to establish total of 500 compost plants has been set.

She said the farmers of villages situated close to the city should use the compost produced by BMC’s compost plant and other plants. The vegetables, food grains and other things grown using compost fetch better price, informed Priyanka Das.

Additional Commissioner MP Singh and Sarthak Sanstha’s Imtiyaz Ali informed in detail about the benefits of use of bio-fertilizer. It was informed that outlets of compost would be opened in Bhopal’s krishi upaj mandis so that it could be easily made available to the farmers.
