Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the flood situation arising in the state following heavy rains during the last 24 hours and directed all the districts to remain fully geared up for relief and rescue operations in view of prediction of heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours.
In the morning of July 30, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will tour flood-affected areas of Shajapur and review the situation over there. In view of floods, he had postponed cabinet meeting scheduled for July 30. He has instructed his cabinet colleagues to stay back in their respective areas to review flood situation and keep in constant touch with people.
Rescuers of 154 persons to be rewarded
Shri Chouhan said that 154 persons marooned in floods have been rescued successfully. Members of rescue teams will be rewarded. He directed the senior officers to initiate appropriate steps with immediate effects.
Giving directive to shift people of flood-prone areas to safer places in view of prediction of heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours, he instructed that rescue teams should be deployed in advance over there as a precaution
The Chief Minister instructed concerning officers to keep short and long term plans ready to tackle untoward situations. He said that plying of passenger buses on inundated bridges and culverts should also be prevented.
All the resources should be utilised with coordination.
Giving instructions to ensure adequate arrangements at flood control cell and keeping situation under control, Shri Chouhan said the lives of citizens are precious. The Chief Minister instructed to strengthen all the disaster management arrangements with immediate effects and exercise caution. He stressed the need for effective strategy for disaster management.
It may be mentioned that heavy rains have been registered in Malwa and Mahakaushal regions of the state. Flood water has entered villages in these regions and normal life has been disrupted there.
Concerning district administration are conducting relief and rescue operations.
Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Director General of Police Shri Nandan Dube, Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri I.S. Dani, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Manoj Shrivastava, Commissioner Public Relations Shri Rakesh Shrivastava, Secretary to Chief Minister Shri S.K. Mishra and senior officers of concerning departments were also present on the occasion.
