Colourful threads in a variety of designs and themes dot the streets as people get ready to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.Many shops have set up makeshift stalls to display ‘rakhis’ in different forms, catering to all age groups. For children, there are ‘rakhis’ with superhero logos such as Doraemon, Chhota Bheem, or idols such as Ganesha.
Stores have also come up with a Raksha Bandhan ‘thali’ that has the paraphernalia for the ‘puja’. New collections of designer ‘rakhis’ with embellished stones and creative work have also made their way to the stores this year. Also available are pure silver ‘rakhis’ at selected stores in the city.

One of the buyers, Rupali said, “This is one of the deepest and noblest of human emotions as Rakhi symbolizes sisterly love and sentiments of siblings for each other. I have bought a silver bracelet kind of rakhi for my brother which has a small diamond studded over it. This rakhi also suits with my brother’s personality.”
