CBI tries to re-construct crime scene with Ryan murder accused

Agencies, New Delhi/Gurugram

The sixteen year old 11th standard boy of Ryan International School Gurugram, held by the Central Bureau of Investigation for murder of class 2 student Pradyuman Thakur was questioned by the probe agency on Thursday and taken to ‘certain’ places for the reconstruction of the events, the sources said.

The accused teenager will also be taken to the school, where the crime took place on September 8, inside a toilet. According to sources, the place where the boy was taken by the probe agency on Thursday was a knife shop, from which the police suspects that the weapon involved in the crime might have been procured.

The sixteen year old student of Ryan International School of Gurgaon was apprehended on Tuesday night after a thorough investigation, including CCTV footage and forensic evidence, for allegedly murdering Thakur on September 8. The CBI had registered the case on September 22.

Pradyuman was found lying in a pool of blood on the morning of September 8, with his throat slit in one of the school’s toilets. The body bore cut marks at various places. A knife was recovered from the spot, which was later confirmed as the weapon used in the crime.

The case was handed over to the CBI after parents of the victim expressed dissatisfaction over the probe being done by the Haryana police and civil society pressure also mounted on the government.

According to the CBI, the juvenile assaulted Pradyuman to create a situation in the campus, which could lead to postponement of his upcoming examination and the impending parent teacher meet.

On the other hand, Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Kherwar at a news conference today refuted the charge that police had botched up the probe, saying that they‘’were moving logically in the direction where the evidence led.’’

Earlier, Haryana police had arrested Ashok Kumar, a bus conductor, who was working with the school for the past eight months for the murder. But yesterday’s announcement by the CBI that the juvenile had confessed to killing Pradyuman has given a new twist to the case.

However, the investigating agency could not further elaborate the motive behind the killing despite persistent questioning from the media.
