The investigative agency also registered two cases against more than 20 officials, retired and working, of the steel plant, they said. As a part of the operation, BJP’s Rajya Sabha nominee Satyanarayan Jatiya’s residence was also raided by CBI. Satyanarayan’s son Rajkumar Jatiya is an officer in Bakaro Steel Plant and was allegedly appointed on basis of fraud records.
Probing the allegations, CBI team today raided Jatiya’s 74 Bunglows based residence and his brother’s residence in Shakti Nagar area. Sources said that the CBI team has also recovered many documents that can prove fatal for the future career of the former minister and BJP’s RS nominee Satyanarayan Jatiya.
On being asked, Jatiya refused the allegations saying that his son’s appointment was done as per procedures and there were no irregularities in the process and this will be the outcome of any investigation.
Raids were carried out in Ranchi, Patna, Bokaro, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai and NCR areas. The cases are related to alleged irregularities in the appointment process in the steel plant in which relatives of high-profile people were shown favours. The sources said the searches were still going on.
