The Transport department of the Madhya Pradesh has permitted all the bus operators to raise the bus fares by 10 per cent. In view of mounting rates of petrol, diesel and goods freight rates going up it was inevitable that bus fares will also go up.
Now almost all the schools ply school buses and it will also hike rates. The education of children itself has become the costly affairs in family budgets and hike in bus fares will hit the family budget. The school vans, autos will also cost more for general public and school students.
The new bus fare will come into effect from 15th June. The bus fares has been worked out one rupee per kilometer. The bus operators were demanding 40 per cent hike in bus fare. But it seems that in practice the bus operator charge more than the fixed rate on plea of making the fares in sound figure.
