The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day without transacting any business on Monday as members including National Democratic Alliance constituent, Telugu Desam Party, stormed into the well of the House demanding ‘Special Status’ for Andhra Pradesh.
Members from Indian National Congress also trooped into the well demanding Government’s response on the recent banking scams in which a big fish defaulter Nirav Modi was allegedly allowed to flee. Trinamool Congress members also raised slogans alleging that Government was in cahoots with the defaulter.
All India Anna Dravidra Munnetra Kaghazam members carried placards demanding Government action on the Cauvery water dispute. TDP member from Chittoor Siva Prasad trooped into the well posing as Lord Krishna playing flute while his colleague carried a statue of Lord Venkatesh. Telengana Rashtra Samiti members demanded increase of reservation quota for the newbie state.
After laying of papers, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan allowed members to make their Zero Hour submission in writing and then adjourned the House for the day.
Earlier, the Lok Sabha could not transact Question Hour and the moment obituary references with regard to former Members of the House was made and a brief silence observed, MPs belonging to Telegu Desam Party, Trinamool Congress and others trooped into the well of the House, raising slogans.
TDP members carried placards demanding ‘Special Status’ for Andhra Pradesh.After 10 minutes, the Speaker adjourned proceedings till 1200 hours.The House paid tributes to former members – Rudolf Rodridgues, Kamla Prasad Singh, Kumari Farida Topno and Khagen Das from Tripura.
No Left members were present in the House in the first hour.Prime Minister Narendra Modi was received in the House by thumping of desks by Bharatiya Janata Party members as he is being chiefly credited for the party’s recent electoral victories in the three northeastern states, specially the Left-ruled Tripura.
