Bomb rumour creates panic at Khan Market

Panic triggered in south Delhi’s posh Khan Market on Friday morning following rumour of a bomb in the area.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police BK Singh, a young man at around 0700 hours informed the police about a bomb in the market. The caller told that he had received the information through a Whatsapp message.

On receiving information, police personnel, bomb disposal and dog squads, fire brigade and disaster management teams reached to the spot, the DCP stated.

Mr Singh said that the security personnel carried out search operation in the market for about two hours and nothing was found. During that period of time, movement of vehicles and people in the market was banned.

The official said that on the basis of investigation of the matter so far, it seems to be a rumor and further investigation is in progress.
