Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, No work is being done to promote solar energy by the state-run Bhel unit.It is worth mentioning that a 10 MW solar plant has not been set up so far, on the other hand, the construction of the proposed solar panel in block-4 of BHEL factory could not be started in the last year.
BHEL’s Bangalore and Hyderabad units are working on a large scale in the field of solar energy. However, BHEL Bhopal has sent a proposal to the BHEL corporate office proposing to set up a solar plant at some other place as state government has not given permission to set up the plant at Jamburi grounds.
Senior officials of BHEL said that BHEL units will soon have a solar plant, which will promote production of solar energy.
Management has not shown seriousness
To promote solar energy in the BHEL unit, solar panels were to be set up in block-4. The preparation of the solar panel was completed in the block. But, BHEL management did not show seriousness. For this reason, the work of making solar panels could not begin till now.
At the same time, the three BHEL office-bearers of INTUC, EBU, BMS say that BHEL management officials are not showing seriousness in promoting solar energy.
Solar panels set up on buildings of schools
BHEL management had installed solar panels on school buildings almost two years ago. The purpose was to produce so much electricity through solar panels, which would generate daily electricity for schools. Solar panels have been set up in other schools of the BHEL Education Board, including Jawaharlal Nehru School.
