Bhavantar Yojana deceit with farmers: MP Kisan Congress

Staff Reporter, Bhopal

The opposition Congress has alleged that the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana of the Madhya Pradesh government is deceit with the farmers. MP Kisan Congress state president Dinesh Gurjar said the state government is not keen on buying entire produce of farmers at support price.

He said so far the government used to purchase entire produce of farmers but now the chief minister is avoiding that. He said this is cheating with the farmers. Gurjar said the farmers’ yield has been limited to per hectare produce and the payment to be made to farmers has been prohibited under the scheme.

For instance in Harda district the government has fixed the Urad yield to 111 kg per hectare and the soyabean to 14 quintal per hectare. Gurjasr asked where the farmers sell their crop if they produce more than the above limits.

It is unjust for the peasants as in all the districts the crop yield have been limited to per hectare produce. Gurjar demanded unlimited crop of farmers should be purchased.

Gurjar said according to the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana the payment of farmers’ difference of price (Bhavantar) would be made after December 15. But it is not clear how much this payment would be and when exactly this payment would be done.

The state government is spending crores of rupees on publicity of this scheme just to confuse the farmers that they would get maximum price for their produce whereas the fact is that the government will make least payments to the farmers for their produce.
