The parliaments budget session which will begin on Friday promises to be stormy as the fuel to the already raging fire between the opposition and the Congress led UPA Government, particularly the Bharatiya Janata Party has been added with the latest reveration kickback in the purchase of multi-million dollar purchase of VVIP helicopters from Italian manufacturer August Westland.
The BJP has already sounded its intensions of stalling the house proceedings over the issue. The left parties have also demanded from the Government to scarp the entire dear. There is one more issue which will generate heat and that is the Statement of Union Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde over hindu terrorism. BJP is very agitated over Shinde’s remark and wants his apology. Another matter which is likely to generate heat is the frequent rise in the prices of petroleum products.
Thus battle line had been drawn and where this session of parliament is heading is anybody’s guess. Though there are many other issues which are to be debated in the house, but as a major political opposition, the BJP has the responsibility of running both houses smoothly. Disruption of proceedings for the past more than one year had only resulted in stallinbg important business of national importance. Hence, while granting the right of the opposition to raise issues and seek answers from the Government, it is also necessary that matters of National interest and discussed with the participation of all sections of the parliament.
