Antony, Dani in race for top job

Chief Secretary R Parshuram retiring in March

By J.P. Sharma
R ParsuramWith the present Chief Secretary R. Parshuram retiring in March this year, a search for new Chief Secretary has begun.
The corridors of Mantralaya are full of discussions over the probable candidate for the top bureaucrat position. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh is particularly concerned as this is an election year and he seems to be very impressed by the working of Parshuram.

Though their is a rumour that Parshuram may get extension for having a good rappo with the Chief Minister, sources in Vallabh Bhawan say that giving an extension to a top bureaucrat will not be easy because the State government will have to give a major reason to the Central Government for giving an extension.

Therefore keeping this fact in mind probably the Chief Minister ahs thought it better to find a new and suitable candidate for the top.
Among the front numbers for the job, names of 1986 batch, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), IS Dani and Additional Chief Secretary (food and civil supplies) Antony D’sa names have figured. Among the 1979 batch officers, Bimal Julha, Rajan Kotach and R. Ramanujan are the center on deputation while another officer of the same batch, Snehlata Kumar is posted in Madhya Pradesh Bhawan, New Delhi.
The State Government is not interested in considering other name like Sandeep Singh Chairman of MP Textbook Corporation, who will retire in April
2015.
However, there are more more senior IAS officers capable of the top job like Vishnupati Tripathi, an IAS officer of 1977 batch, but he stands no chance owing to his close relationship with the Congress leader and former Union Minister, Vidhya Charan Shukla.
The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is highly impressed by the working style of ACS Antoni D’Sa for his role in procurement of wheat in the last season.
Therefore, name of D’Sa prominently figure in the list of probables. However IS Dani is in good books of the present Chief Secretary R. Parshuram and also has backing of several BJP top leaders.
Dani will retire in June 2015 and Antoni D’Sa will retire in October 2016. Both senior bureaucrat are contenders for the top job, sources added.
