Initially, the industry talk was that Shruti Haasan would be chosen for the role. But after the stupendous success of Vijay’s Thalaivaa, the filmmakers seemed to have zoomed in on Amala.
Amala, whose career graph seems to be on an upswing after Thalaivaa, was considered after Ileana D’Cruz and Tamannah Bhatia.
Gabbar is the remake of Tamil hit Ramanaa.
Gabbar has already created a buss in industry as Bhansali and Akshay are teaming up again after Rowdy Rathore. Other southern sirens who have been Akshay’s heroines are Trisha and Asin.
That Amala has not signed any Tamil movies has also added to the buzz that she is headed for Bollywood.
