Alia Bhatt Audience don’t come to see brain dead films

With three diverse performances in a matter of six months, one superhit (2 STATES), one critically acclaimed flick (HIGHWAY) and now yet another solid hit (HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA) later, one would have expected Alia Bhatt to be dancing with joy and screaming from the rooftops. However, with dad Mahesh Bhatt as well as Varun Dhawan advising her to stay firmly on ground, Alia is keeping calm and taking it easy.

“Everything boils down eventually to the content we have to offer and audience acceptance towards that. They understand very well what is good or bad and that’s the reason why regardless of an actor being newcomer or established, films are doing well primarily on the basis of subject and plot,” says Alia

With HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA comfortably crossing the 50 crore mark within a week and now all set to cross the 75 crore mark, it is quite apparent that the content has been accepted. Still, the fact also remains that newcomers are being accepted like never before, what with Alia as well as her peers like Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon finding a nod of approval in quick succession.

“Yes, it is a great time right now. Newcomers who are being accepted are the ones who have been working hard for this,” says Alia in a matter of fact tone, “Our newer generation is truly proving its worth. We have to work extra hard as our audience is very picky today. People are no more coming to theaters just to see brain dead films and eat popcorn.”
