Bhopal, As part of continuing endeavours to boost tourism in central India, the stage is set for ‘Adventure Next’, a two-day event scheduled to commence early Tuesday at the Raja Bhoj Hall of this City of Lakes’ International Convention Centre.
Sources said that Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board Managing Director (MD) and Principal Secretary (Tourism) Hari Ranjan Rao reviewed preparations. Tourism Development Corporation MD Ilayaraja T and Additional MD Bhavana Walimbe were also in attendance at the meeting.
Delegates from over 30 countries including the United States of America, Canada, Brazil, China, Japan, United Kingdom, Indonesia, South Africa, Australia, Poland, France, Germany, Argentina, The Philippines, Singapore, Chile and Iran are to grace the event during which Joint Secretary (Tourism) Suman Billa and Mr Rao will make presentations.
Adventure Travel Trade Association Chief Executive Officer Shannon Stowell, Adventure Tour Operators Association of India President Swadesh Kumar, principal secretaries, secretaries, MDs of various states will also be present.
A craft village is being created on the premises of Minto Hall where there shall be a live demonstration of Maheshwari saree-making and Bagh printing, an exhibition-cum-sale is to be held by the Mati Kala Board, cultural programmes are to be conducted at the Boat Club and Hotel Lake View Ashok.
The delegates will visit World Heritage sites Bhimbetka and Sanchi besides the Museum of Man and the Tribal Museum. That shall be followed by deliberations on Adventure Tourism and an important session will focus on Gond art.
About 70 buyers are likely to attend the event for which a control room has been set up. Delegates from different parts of the country and overseas have already started arriving; they visited tourist destinations, historical sites and the National Park here.
