RANK & BOLT Awards
Race for Awareness and Knowledge & Broad Outlook Learner Teacher
Awards (RANK & BOLT). This award was conceptualized by Air India to
recognize excellence outside the field of academics for Teachers and
Students. The Award winners fly to Singapore as guests of Air India on an
ambassadorial visit.
Mr.V.
Thulasidas Chairman & Managing Director says "The RANK & BOLT
Awards is about promoting responsibility & active citizenship
and preserving our environment. Singapore is an ideal example
of responsible civic conduct and eco-support system that have
developed and adopted. It is also an emerging education centre
of the world with a mix of communities living in a seamless
environment as one".
RANK & BOLT Awards is a part of Air India’s pan India corporate social
responsibility initiative. Launched in 2002-2003, this project was started to
promote the twin concepts of "Towards Responsible & Active Citizenship"
& "Preserving a Crumbling Environment" in seven states.
The acceptability and synergy that was generated by this programme encouraged AI to expand
it in Entire India.
In accordance with the central idea of this initiative, the
students are required to design a national flag for a hypothetical country along
with a set of ten laws that would decide one’s eligibility for citizenship to this
hypothetical country. For teachers to be eligible for this award they are
required to explain how they make learning meaningful, how they live by
example and how they are creating awareness about the fragile environment
that we live in.
As per Mr. Subroto Ghosal, Project coordinator ( Reaching out project ),
After the entries are received, they undergo an extensive three level screening
process wherein District winners compete at the State level. Once the State
winners are announced, they qualify for the National RANK & BOLT
Awards. Air india has chosen Nava Bharat and Central Chronicle as their
media partner for entire Madhya Pradesh.
