At least five people were feared killed and 70 others injured in serial blasts which occurred at Gandhi Maidan area, venue of BJP Prime Ministerial Candidate Narendra Modi’s rally here today.
According to the people, seven blasts were triggered, at least five outside the maidan and at least one near the rally ground.One blast had taken place in morning near the Patna junction.
The serial power blasts occurred in the Hunkar Rally addressed by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi (NaMo) failed to deter the spirit of the people who had come to hear their leader.
The first blast in Gandhi Maidan occurred at around 1100 hrs on South- East corner of the maidain when the state level leaders of the party were addressing the rally. Later, five more blasts took place one by one in the ground.
The people in the ground had realised and were also aware of the serial blasts in the rally ground. The security personnel deployed at the Gandhi Maidan acted in time and tried to find out the blasts. Even after the blasts, the people were continuously thronging in the Gandhi Maidan.
The blasts and the trouble could not deter the spirit of the people who were eager to listen NaMo. A youth of Kurji Sunil Kumar said he along with others had come to hear NaMo and would go back only after hearing him even after blast of bombs or crackers takes place.
The BJP leaders appeared concerned and tried to normalise the situation by appealing from the dais not to explode crackers but soon realised it were bombs and not the crackers. Prior to the blasts in Gandhi Maidain, the people had come to know about the blast, which had taken place on Patna railway junction.
Despite knowing the blast the people continue to visit the rally ground.
