At least 46 people were feared killed when an Uttarakhand based private bus veered off the road and fell into Tons River in Boldhar in anterior Shimla today. Additional SP of Sirmaur Vinod Dhiman said 43 bodies were fished out while two to three were feared drowned.
He said the bus was coming to Tyuni in Chopal from Vikasnagar in Uttarakhand. The 54-seater bus was packed to capacity and the accident impact was so hard that chances of any survivors are few, he confirmed.
As many as 43 bodies have been fished out so far as the rescue operation is being carried out by different rescue teams from Chopal, Nerwa of Shimla and Rohanat of Sirmouar district.
Rescue teams, including doctors, paramedics and police and fire brigade staff have been sent from Nerwa and Chopal. Majority of the passengers belonged to Chopal tehsil of Himachal Pradesh and Vikasnagar of Uttrakhanad.
