Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Panic spread in Nazirabad village after a four-year-old girl Radhika Ahirwar, daughter of Babulal Ahirwar of Nazirabad village in Bairasia tehsil, died after drinking contaminated water of a well on Saturday morning. Ten other people in the village had been taken ill.
Among those taken ill were Rajni Ahirwar (25), Mishrilal Ahirwar (62), Himmat Singh (18), Sapna Ahirwar (30), Heeralal (25) Jagdeesh Ahirwar (10), Rekha Ahirwar (20) and Hemraj Ahirwar (19). All the ill persons have been admitted at the government hospitals.
Members of Ahirwar family started feeling uneasy after consuming water of the same well which was suspected to be contaminated. Family members felt that they might have eaten something that’s why their stomach were upset but slowly situation turned critical. Family members informed their neighbours about the incident.
Looking at the condition of Ahirwar family members, villagers rushed them to Bairasia Government Hospital where a team of doctors examined the family members and declared that Radhika Ahirwar was brought dead.
Seeing the poor health of Himmatlal and Sapna Ahirwar, doctors of Bairasia hospital also referred them to Hamidia Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Dr Sudhir Jesani, Chief Medical and Health Officer, while speaking to ‘The Hitavada’ told that initially villagers were scared thinking that cholera is spreading over the Nazirabad village, but later it was confirmed that the family was suffering from diarrhoea. Young girl Radhika succumbed to diarrhoea while doctors are trying to save the other members of family.
He added that medical staff learnt that the family consumed water of the same well and they are assuming that water was contaminated but he will be confirmed only after testing the water and about food history of the family.
He also informed that Health Department has sent an emergency medical staff with required equipment and medicines to Nazirabad ensuring no other casualty and directed villagers to avoid consuming water from well until Health Department comes to know about the actual reasons of illness of Ahirwar family.
