While four IM operatives were nabbed in the state capital here one was arrested in Jodhpur, Additional Director General of Police(ATS & SoG) of Rajasthan, Dr Alok Tripathy said.
These arrests were facilitated on the leads given during interrogation by notorious IM functionary Pakistan national Zia-ur-Rehman alias Waqas who was arrested by the cops from Ajmer Railway station early yesterday.
Explosives, arms, ammunition, pipe and bottle bombs and other material WERE also seized from the terrorists.
The police have been searching for Waqas and his associates for past several months, the ADGP said.
‘’Coming Lok Sabha polls could have been targeted, we still have to investigate further about their specific target,’’ the Delhi Police said at a press conference held here.
Giving details about the suspected terrorists, Delhi Police said ‘’Four suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists who were arrested in Rajasthan are Waqas, Mahroof, Md Waqar and Saqib Ansari.’’
Sources said one of the suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist was held from Ajmer, while two were nabbed from Jaipur and one other was arrested from Jodhpur with explosives. ‘’Waqas, is alleged to be the chief bomb-maker of Indian Mujahideen and a close aide of its jailed co-founder Yasin Bhatkal,’’ sources said.
‘’On order of Yasin Bhatkal, Waqas allegedly participated in terror strikes in Mumbai, Jama Masjid, Pune and Hyderabad,’’ the Delhi Police said.
Disclosing more information on the arrest of the suspected terrorist Waqas, the Delhi police said, ‘’Waqas was held yesterday morning and he is allegedly involved in several terror strikes in the country. He was nabbed at Ajmer railway station after receiving a tip-off that Waqas was due to arrive at the station.’’
